Hello [info]uae,

I've been entertaining a  move to the UAE but I need more information. I work in the non-profit sector and would like to know what kind of prospects exist there in terms of jobs in that filed.

I'm looking specifically for global or western-based organizations who have offices in the UAE (such as the UN, Amnesty International etc...).

Thanks in advance for your help.

Polar Bear is a cat we rescued about a month ago, after we found him in front of our building begging for food. He is vaccinated, fixed, and tagged, and ready to be adopted into a loving home.

He is eight or nine months old, but he's huge! I think he might get bigger. He has soft fur and a cute pink nose and cute pink ears (though his pretty face, sadly, has been scratched by our Cyrus kitty, who hates him). The vet told us he is an "Arabian Mau," a "de facto" pure breed indigenous to the UAE for 1,000 years.

Here's some information on the Arabian Mau breed:

The bear needs a home!

im not really sure if thats a good thing though. i know that the uae is notorious for blocking websites.. and since uae has an lj.. (stupid question coming up..) does this mean lj isn't included in this. i hope not. I REALLY HOPE NOT since this would be my access for arashi goodness. any ARASHI fans around?

Following the successful homing of the Carpark Kitty (thank you, internets!), and at risk of being called "that cat lady," I invite you to better the world by sharing this video of Chain Letter Kitty!

"Ian," the kitty, was living IN A CAR with his previous owner, who sadly lost his job and then was evicted from his apartment. Now he's living in a cage in a clinic. (Ian is, I mean. His previous owner, I understand, is still living in his car.)

He's almost a year old. He's healthy, he's micro-chipped, he's castrated, and he has all his vaccinations. His tail is foofy. And his claws are manicured nice and short!

Please re-post this video! If you are in the UAE, re-post this video. If you even know anyone in the UAE, re-post this video, and encourage your friends to do the same.

If you don't forward this video, you surely are doomed. At best, you will find yourself living in your car, castrated, and sporting a becoming manicure.

Do you really want to take that chance?

The link to the video is http://www.facebook.com/v/168413410180.

You can embed the video here, there, and everywhere using this code:

(If you post this to your journal or facebook, and your friends post it, and their friends post it, we can save this kitty's life. Interested pet lovers can reach me at chu-hi@livejournal.com. This address appears at the end of the video, so pass it on. Thanks in advance!)
